Sponsored Research Program

Any member of the Center for Research and Education in Wind (CREW) may pursue proprietary research with one or more of the Collaboratory Institutions via its membership in CREW. This type of research is independently funded and sponsored, and focuses on specific areas of interest of the member, which may include proprietary research that builds upon the results of intellectual property licenses obtained from the Shared Research Program. As part of this Sponsored Research Program, exclusive licensing is available on the incremental research work.
This CREW research program allows each member with a tailored interface to access the research capabilities of one or more of the Collaboratory Institutions through a single streamlined administrative structure, with all administrative and financial responsibilities managed by the University of Colorado (the current CREW administrative lead institution). Membership in CREW does not limit a member from entering into separate research agreements with Collaboratory Institutions. An operations fee of 10% (capped at $300,000 per year and can offset the annual membership fees) of the total sponsored research project amount is deposited into the Shared Research Program to augment its annual seed grants.
